Salvation

“I Choose Jesus”

About Salvation

We all trust something—relationships, money, work ethic, or the advice of others. Yet, trusting in anything other than God’s plan leads to disappointment. God’s word compels us in Proverbs 3:5-6 to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

When we entrust our whole lives to God, we truly flourish. This is why the first and most important decision in our spiritual journey is to choose Jesus, receive salvation through Him, and publicly declare our decision to follow Him through baptism. As we declare, “I Choose Jesus,” we acknowledge that every part of our lives entrusted to God will flourish.

  • Salvation is being saved from sin and its consequences through faith in Jesus Christ. It means receiving forgiveness and eternal life with God. (John 3:16)

  • We need salvation from Jesus because, on our own, we often fall short and struggle to find true fulfillment or make sense of life's challenges. Jesus offers a way to be reconciled with God, guiding us to live with purpose and experience lasting peace and joy.

Romans 8:23-24: For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.

  • There is a pretty simple acronym that helps guide us to entrust our lives to Jesus. Praying this admission, declaration of belief, and confession is otherwise known as the sinner's prayer, signifying your new relationship with Jesus.

A - Admit - Admit that you are not living God’s way (Romans 3:23)

B - Believe - Believe that Jesus died to cover the penalty for your sin (Romans 5:8 & Romans 6:23)

C - Confess - Confess and acknowledge that you entrust your life to God. (Romans 10:9)
