Share Your Story

“Sharing your God story is the most powerful witness you can have”

About Sharing Your Story

We are witnesses to what God has done in our lives. Sharing your story, your testimony, is a powerful way to worship God. It not only offers praise to the Lord for the good He has worked in your life but also impacts the faith of those who hear it, allowing them to see more of who God is through your experiences. God expects you to share your God story so others can come to know Jesus. As we say, “Your story, God’s glory,” because sharing your God story is the most powerful witness you can have. Whether in personal conversations or within your community, your testimony serves as a beacon of hope, showing the transformative power of Jesus in your life.

  • Sharing your story, or testimony, is the personal account of how God has worked in your life, demonstrating His grace, power, and faithfulness. It is a way to give a real-life example of transformation through Jesus Christ, showing the impact of the gospel in a relatable way.

  • Sharing your story is important because it helps others see the reality of God’s presence and work in everyday life, providing hope and encouragement. Sharing how God has changed you is evidence of God's faithfulness and transformational power.

In 1 Peter 2:9, we are encouraged to "declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."

Sharing your Story also aligns with fulfilling the call to be a witness for Christ, as personal testimonies can lead others to salvation and strengthen the faith of believers.

  • To share your story effectively, start by briefly describing your life before encountering Jesus, then explain how you came to know Him, and finally highlight the changes and blessings that have followed. Make your testimony relatable, focusing on key moments where God showed His love, healing, or provision, and invite listeners to share that same transformation.

What’s Next?

The next step in sharing your story is to organize your testimony using a simple outline: life before Jesus, how you encountered Jesus, and how your life has changed since. Start by reflecting on key moments in each of these areas, focusing on personal transformation and God’s work in your life. This outline will help you craft a clear, impactful testimony that is easy to share with others. Here’s an easy way to remember:

One-Minute Witness -  Five-Finger Framework

    • “May I ask you a Question?”

    • “What is the best thing that has ever happened to you?”

    • “May I share the best thing that has ever happened to me?”

    • There was a time in my life when... 1.____ 2. ____ 3. ____

    • How did you hear about Jesus? “And then one day …”

    • Finish this sentence: “When I realized Jesus died for my sins and rose again, I invited Him to …”

    • 'Anno Domini' in Latin means in the year of the Lord, or more commonly referred to as after the birth of Jesus

    • Describe the positive benefits Jesus has made in your life AFTER you encountered Him.

    • What would your life look like without Jesus?

FAQ’s on Sharing Your Story

  • Look for natural opportunities in conversations to share your testimony, such as when discussing challenges, faith, or personal growth. You don’t need to force it; simply share how God has been working in your life when it fits the context. Colossians 4:6 encourages, “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt.

  • A testimony doesn’t need to be dramatic to be powerful. Even if your story seems ordinary, the fact that God has saved and transformed you is extraordinary. Jesus said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9), meaning every story of salvation reflects His grace.

  • Yes, sharing your testimony while still facing challenges can be powerful because it shows that faith is a journey, not a destination. It highlights God’s ongoing work in your life, as Philippians 1:6 reminds us, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.

  • Your testimony should be concise and to the point, ideally around 3-5 minutes. This allows you to share the most impactful parts of your story without losing your audience’s attention. Remember, it’s not about length, but about clearly communicating how God transformed your life (1 Peter 3:15).

  • As you craft your testimony, pray and ask God what you should and shouldn't share. Sharing past mistakes and sins can help others relate to your story, but be mindful not to glorify those details. Focus more on God’s grace and redemption, as Ephesians 2:8-9 states, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

  • It’s natural to feel nervous, but remember, the Holy Spirit empowers you to be a witness. Acts 1:8 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses.” Trust in God’s ability to speak through you, and practice sharing your story with a trusted friend to build confidence.
