Make Disciples

“We help people live and love like Jesus”

About Making Disciples

We invite people to choose to become more like Jesus. God calls us to be disciples of Jesus who help others on their journey to becoming disciples as well. This means embracing and living out the Great Commission as the way we walk out our decision to follow Jesus. At Daybreak, we help people live and love like Jesus, and so we invite people to learn how to follow and become more like Him.

Our mission is to invest in others, guiding them to grow in their faith and walk with Christ. By doing so, we strive to live out “The Great Commission” (Matthew 28:18-20), making disciples who, in turn, help others become disciples of Jesus.

  • Making disciples means intentionally guiding others to follow Jesus, helping them grow in faith and live according to His teachings. It is about modeling Christ-like behavior and teaching others to embrace Jesus’ commands and purpose for their lives.

  • We make disciples because Jesus commands it in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), calling us to invest in others so they can experience His transformative power. By making disciples, we fulfill our mission to glorify God and spread His love to all nations, building a community of believers who continue this work.

Romans 8:23-24: For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.

  • We make disciples by inviting people to follow Jesus, teaching them to obey His Word, and walking with them in their spiritual journey. Through personal relationships, intentional mentoring, and living as examples of Christ’s love, we help others grow in their faith and disciple others in turn.

FAQ’s on Making Disciples

  • Start by praying for God to show you someone to invest in, and then be intentional about building a relationship with that person. Jesus began by inviting His disciples to follow Him (Matthew 4:19), and you can do the same by spending time with them, sharing your life, and teaching them what it means to live like Christ.

  • Walking alongside someone in their faith means being present in their life, offering guidance, prayer, and encouragement. Paul modeled this in 1 Thessalonians 2:8, where he says, “Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” Invest time in their growth by studying the Bible together, praying regularly, and being available to answer questions.

  • Evangelism is sharing the good news of Jesus with someone who may not know Him, while making disciples is the process of helping that person grow in their faith after they come to Christ. Jesus not only told His followers to make disciples (Matthew 28:19), but also to “teach them to obey everything I have commanded you,” emphasizing ongoing spiritual growth.

  • If you’re following Jesus and growing in your own faith, you’re ready to help someone else do the same. You don’t have to be perfect—just willing. As Paul encouraged Timothy, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).

  • Focus on teaching the essentials of the Christian faith: how to pray, read the Bible, and live out Christ’s teachings in daily life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 reminds us, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Equip them to live a life rooted in God’s Word.
