Worship

“Worship is not how we sing; it's how we live”

About Worship

You were created to worship! The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether you eat or drink, whatever you do, do it for the glory of God,” and Romans 12:1 reminds us that we are to offer ourselves as “living sacrifices”because this is our “true and proper worship”. It's amazing how easy it is to bring God glory when we realize that it's not about being a great singer or a musician, but instead posturing our hearts and minds to understand that whatever we do we must make it our worship unto Him!

  • Worship is a way of life, not just a single act, where we glorify God in all that we do—whether through prayer, music, or how we live daily. It involves offering ourselves as living sacrifices, as described in Romans 12:1, recognizing that every action is an opportunity to honor and glorify God.

  • We worship to acknowledge God’s glory, strength, and holiness, as Psalm 29:1-3 reminds us, and because He is worthy of our praise. Worship also deepens our relationship with God, helping us remember His goodness, faithfulness, and the wonderful things He has done for us.

  • We worship by dedicating our time, treasure, and talents to God, using them to point others toward Him. Whether through prayer, singing, or using our gifts for His glory, we worship actively by aligning our lives with God’s purposes and constantly lifting His name.

What’s Next?

So if worship is everything we do, it's really easy for it to feel overwhelming. How do I worship all the time? We have a simple tool to help you remind yourself daily to worship God with all you are! We like to break it down in 3 simple ways: we worship God with our TIME, our TREASURE, and our TALENT

  • Each day we make TIME to spend time with the Lord in prayer, and spend time focusing on his Holy nature. Prayer, listening to, or playing music is a great way we can spend time with God and the Truths found in His Word. When we sing songs and lift praises to him we are reminding our souls of what God is and always will be capable of! He is holy, worthy, matchless in power, and so many other things and when we sing that over our lives it helps us focus on the provider instead of the problems we may be facing!

  • TREASURES are the things that we hold dear. For some people that is a relationship, for some people it's money. It can be a ton of different things. When we worship with our treasure we are telling God that what He has given us is not ours to hang onto out of greed or worry that we may not have enough, but instead trusting Him to provide everything we need! We are telling Him that He is our provider and that regardless of the circumstance we will trust him.

  • Our TALENTS include what we are good at, our passions, our skills? Did you know that each of those things are actually gifts from God that we get to use to give Him Glory! He’s made each of us unique with a gift of creativity, knowledge, relationships, and the list goes on and on! We worship God with our talents when we take our gifts and use them to bring people's attention to Jesus! As we mentioned earlier, whatever we do, we do it to bring God glory!

FAQ’s on Worship

  • Yes, worship isn’t limited to a church setting but can take place anywhere, as it’s about your heart and connection with God. Jesus teaches in John 4:24 that “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” Whether you are at home, at work, or in nature, you can worship God through prayer, song, and your daily actions.

  • No, worship goes beyond singing and includes every aspect of our lives. Romans 12:1 tells us to “offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Singing is one form of worship, but we also worship through prayer, giving, serving, and living in a way that honors God.

  • Music helps express the emotions of our hearts and minds in a way words alone sometimes cannot. Throughout the Bible, music is a powerful tool for worship, as seen in Psalm 95:1-2, “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.” Singing focuses our hearts on God’s goodness and draws us closer to Him.

  • Yes, worship isn’t based on emotions but on choosing to honor God despite how we feel. Psalm 34:1 says, “I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Even when times are hard, choosing to worship can bring peace and help realign our focus on God’s faithfulness.

  • The Holy Spirit guides and empowers us in worship, helping us connect with God on a deeper level. According to Romans 8:26, “The Spirit helps us in our weakness” and intercedes for us when we don’t know what to pray or how to approach God. Through the Holy Spirit, we experience a more profound sense of God’s presence during worship.

  • Worshiping in spirit means engaging your heart and soul with God through the Holy Spirit, while worshiping in truth means aligning your worship with the truth of God’s Word. Jesus explains in John 4:23-24, “True worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” True worship involves a sincere heart and a correct understanding of who God is.
